FHB27 QTV LARGE SERIES HYDRAULIC ROCK BREAKERS for 21–33 Ton Excavators – BIGGER, BETTER, BOLDER

The FHB27 Qtv is FRD’s fifth-generation breaker, with the Quick Switch Valve as standard and the Smart Stroke System as an option;  made for excavators in the 21 to 33 ton range, and is a brute among hammers.

Built to take punishment, the FHB27 Qtv rock breaking hammer can handle road removal, reduction of bridge pylons, foundation demolition, and the extremes of quarry applications. Incorporating the latest in design technology, it also offers less maintenance and downtime and smoother operation. The new FHB Series for excavators has eliminated a problem that has long plagued the breaker industry – thru-bolts. Our new large series of hydraulic hammers are designed without thru-bolts and all the problems that go with them.

What is new in the FHB27?

The FRD FHB27 is a hydraulic breaker for excavators in the 21 to 33 U.S. ton class, with 27 tons as the optimal carrier weight. It weighs 3,762 lb (1,710 kg), runs on 36.9 to 55.4 GPM at 2,320 to 2,610 psi, and delivers 370 to 550 blows per minute through 5.51 in (140 mm) working steel. The Quick Switch Valve is standard, the automatic Smart Stroke System is optional, and the solid body has no thru-bolts.

An increased hydraulic flow range allows the hammer to be used on a wider range of carriers for greater inventory utilization.

Our unique design gives us an excellent power to weight ratio for lower maintenance and increased performance. This solid body concept eliminates thru-bolts which has reduced the breaker weight but does not affect our impact energy. This makes for much better control for the operator, less wear and tear on the excavator and reduced fuel costs.

Operators appreciate performance features that include a new valve design to reduce hydraulic fluid temperatures. A redesigned piston enhances surface contact to working steel, while a larger bushing surface keeps it aligned for greater impact. A replaceable cylinder liner increases tool life and reduces time-consuming maintenance. A higher back head pressure and large piston diameter increase the impact energy by up to 20-30% over previous models. The one-piece enclosure reduces noise levels making it a perfect choice for reduced noise applications.

The FHB27 ships in FRD’s Qtv cradle, a low-noise protective housing that accepts a wide range of top caps. The FHB Series builds on FRD’s Fx Series, keeps its solid body without thru-bolts, and adds new stroke control, updated stop pins and rod pins, a three-point dust intake prevention system, and a valve design that lowers hydraulic oil temperature.

All FRD USA hammers come complete with our exclusive Pro-Pak for ease of installation. The Pro-Pak includes hose whips, mounting hardware, standard working steel and tool kit with operating manual at no additional charge.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The FHB27 comes with the Quick Switch Valve (QSV) as standard and offers the Smart Stroke System (SSS) as an option. With the QSV, the operator turns the valve with a tool until its groove lines up with one of three letters.
The FHB27 is sized for carriers from 21 to 33 U.S. tons, with 27 tons as the optimal carrier weight. Confirm that the carrier’s auxiliary flow and pressure fall within the FHB27’s range before mounting.
The FHB27 weighs 3,762 lb (1,710 kg) and is 119 in (3,026 mm) long. Both figures include the standard working steel and universal top cap, less mounting pins and bushings.
The FHB27 accepts 36.9 to 55.4 GPM (140 to 210 LPM) of oil flow at 2,320 to 2,610 psi (160 to 180 bar). Hydraulic input power is 63.0 kW.
The FHB27 delivers an adjustable 370 to 550 blows per minute. It uses 5.51 in (140 mm) diameter working steel.
The Quick Switch Valve (QSV) is the FHB27’s stroke adjuster and comes standard. Turning the valve with a tool selects one of three settings: L for long stroke, S for short stroke, and A for long stroke with anti-dry-fire protection.

The Smart Stroke System (SSS) is available on the FHB27 as an option. It switches between long and short stroke automatically by sensing piston position. Without it, the FHB27 sets stroke manually with the standard Quick Switch Valve.

No. The FHB27 uses a solid body design that eliminates thru-bolts, so there are none to torque, break or replace.

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Breaker

When operated properly, breakers efficiently and effectively break up concrete and shatter rock. If not operated properly or not sized correctly for the job, the attachment can fail unexpectedly and waste precious time on a job site, or even suffer a reduced lifespan.
