FHB12 Hydraulic Breaker for 9–15 Ton Excavators and Backhoes – SUPERIOR STRENGTH MEETS DURABILITY

FRD’s fifth-generation breaker, built without thru-bolts. The FHB12 rock breaker has a 9 to 15 ton carrier range making this mid-sized hammer the perfect choice for backhoes, excavators and mini-excavators.

The FRD FHB12 is a hydraulic breaker for excavators and backhoes in the 9 to 15 U.S. ton class, with 12 tons as the optimal carrier weight. It weighs 1,782 lb (810 kg), runs on 18.5 to 31.5 GPM at 2,320 to 2,610 psi, and delivers 450 to 670 blows per minute through 4.33 in (110 mm) working steel. It is the smallest model in FRD’s fifth-generation FHB Series and has a solid body with no thru-bolts.

PERFORMANCE SPOTLIGHT

  • Solid body design with no thru-bolts to torque, break or replace
  • Square body for strength and rigidity
  • Replaceable cylinder liner with concentric porting that keeps the piston aligned
  • Three-point dust intake prevention: piston grooves, a cushion ring and improved external sealing
  • New valve design that reduces hydraulic fluid temperature
  • Lubrication routed evenly to the thrust bushing, front bushing and rod pins
  • Larger bushing surface that keeps the working steel aligned
  • Updated stop pins and rod pins for longer service life
  • Qtv cradle for protection and sound suppression

What is new in the FHB12?

Like the other hammers in the FHB family, the FHB12 offers improved durability, with features that include a square, mono-block body for superior strength and a replaceable cylinder liner for reduced repair time.

Our unique design gives us an excellent power to weight ratio for lower maintenance and increased performance. This solid body concept eliminates thru-bolts which has reduced the breaker weight but does not affect our impact energy. This makes for much better control for the operator, less wear and tear on the excavator and reduced fuel costs.

The FHB12 ships in FRD’s Qtv cradle, a low-noise protective housing that accepts a wide range of top caps. The FHB Series builds on FRD’s Fx Series and adds updated stop pins and rod pins, a three-point dust intake prevention system, and a valve design that lowers hydraulic oil temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FHB12 is sized for carriers from 9 to 15 U.S. tons, with 12 tons as the optimal carrier weight. FRD lists backhoes and excavators as carrier options. Confirm that the carrier’s auxiliary flow and pressure fall within the FHB12’s range before mounting.

The FHB12 weighs 1,782 lb (810 kg) and is 87 in (2,208 mm) long. Both figures include the standard working steel and universal top cap, less mounting pins and bushings.
The FHB12 accepts 18.5 to 31.5 GPM (70 to 119 LPM) of oil flow at 2,320 to 2,610 psi (160 to 180 bar). Hydraulic input power is 36.0 kW.
The FHB12 delivers an adjustable 450 to 670 blows per minute. It uses 4.33 in (110 mm) diameter working steel.

No. The FHB12 changes between long and short stroke by attaching or detaching a GPF plug. The Quick Switch Valve is standard on the FHB16 through FHB45, and the Smart Stroke System is an option on the FHB27 through FHB45.

No. The FHB12 uses a solid body design that eliminates thru-bolts, so there are none to torque, break or replace.

Qtv is FRD’s low-noise protective cradle. It houses the breaker for protection and sound suppression and accepts a wide variety of top caps for mounting to different carriers.

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Breaker

When operated properly, breakers efficiently and effectively break up concrete and shatter rock. If not operated properly or not sized correctly for the job, the attachment can fail unexpectedly and waste precious time on a job site, or even suffer a reduced lifespan.
