What is new in the FHB45?

Our unique design gives us an excellent power to weight ratio for lower maintenance and increased performance. This solid body concept eliminates thru-bolts which has reduced the breaker weight but does not affect our impact energy. This makes for much better control for the operator, less wear and tear on the excavator and reduced fuel costs.

The FHB45 Qtv offers improved durability, with features that include a square, mono-block body design for superior strength. The elimination of thru-bolts also reduces maintenance and failure. A patent pending dust prevention system incorporates grooves to trap contaminates on the upstroke and expel them on the piston down stroke, while a cushion ring acts as a secondary trap. This improves the life of the piston, bushings and working steel.

Operators appreciate performance features that include a new valve design to reduce hydraulic fluid temperatures. A redesigned piston enhances surface contact to working steel, while a larger bushing surface keeps it aligned for greater impact. A replaceable cylinder liner increases tool life and reduces time-consuming maintenance. The unique one-piece enclosure and dampening system reduces noise levels for use in noise sensitive environments. A higher back head pressure and larger piston diameter increases impact performance by 20% over previous models.

The FHB45 ships in FRD’s Qtv cradle, a low-noise protective housing that accepts a wide range of top caps. The FHB Series builds on FRD’s Fx Series, keeps its solid body without thru-bolts, and adds new stroke control, updated stop pins and rod pins, a three-point dust intake prevention system, and a valve design that lowers hydraulic oil temperature.

All FRD USA hammers come complete with our exclusive Pro-Pak for ease of installation. The Pro-Pak includes hose whips, mounting hardware, standard working steel and tool kit with operating manual at no additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FHB45 comes with the Quick Switch Valve (QSV) as standard and offers the Smart Stroke System (SSS) as an option. With the QSV, the operator turns the valve with a tool until its groove lines up with one of three letters.
The FHB45 is sized for carriers from 39 to 61 U.S. tons, with 45 tons as the optimal carrier weight. Confirm that the carrier’s auxiliary flow and pressure fall within the FHB45’s range before mounting.

The FHB45 weighs 7,021 lb (3,185 kg) and is 146 in (3,708 mm) long. Both figures include the standard working steel and universal top cap, less mounting pins and bushings.

The FHB45 accepts 52.8 to 79.2 GPM (200 to 300 LPM) of oil flow at 2,320 to 2,610 psi (160 to 180 bar). Hydraulic input power is 90.0 kW.
The FHB45 delivers an adjustable 290 to 400 blows per minute. It uses 6.69 in (170 mm) diameter working steel.
The Quick Switch Valve (QSV) is the FHB45’s stroke adjuster and comes standard. Turning the valve with a tool selects one of three settings: L for long stroke, S for short stroke, and A for long stroke with anti-dry-fire protection.
The Smart Stroke System (SSS) is available on the FHB45 as an option. It switches between long and short stroke automatically by sensing piston position. Without it, the FHB45 sets stroke manually with the standard Quick Switch Valve.
No. The FHB45 uses a solid body design that eliminates thru-bolts, so there are none to torque, break or replace.

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Breaker

When operated properly, breakers efficiently and effectively break up concrete and shatter rock. If not operated properly or not sized correctly for the job, the attachment can fail unexpectedly and waste precious time on a job site, or even suffer a reduced lifespan.
